I have written a few thoughts for the month of April! In times of really hard work I do sometimes get overtired, and wonder why I do all this work! I have found over the years that life does not get any easier. We are all working very hard and have a life that is full of chaos and challenges. I have learned that sticking to positive actions and thoughts daily, no matter what life throws at you, leads to ultimate happiness.
Having my workouts and nutrition in place really helps me get through my week. Even when I think I can’t!!
Then when I reach a goal or a milestone, I reflect on life and realise how amazing it is to have such lovely girls in my life – Thank you Living Beauty Season One: 2013
I would like to thank Gemma Dawson for being an amazing friend and Assistant Coach.
Thank you to our Living Beauty clients this season:
Adelaide: Lia, Elle, Christie, Amanda, Nina, Helen, Sarah, Fatima
Perth: Katrina, Kim
Everyone has a different goal – post baby shape up, shape up for life, a bikini competition.
It can be done! The girls are living proof you can have fitness and a busy life!
At times I am too passionate, maybe a bit bossy, maybe a bit forward with my opinions but at the end of the day that’s because I care. If something is not right I stand up for the person or the principle in the situation.
- Keep questioning on your path.
- Stay true to yourself and your personality, values and beliefs.
- Stand up for those weaker than you – be their voice.
As we approach the competition season stay tuned for amazing pics of Living Beauty athletes who have lived the Living Beauty philosophy and lifestyle since the end of 2012, but for now here are a few tips for the month of April…
FOOD and DIET – FEED YOUR MIND THE RIGHT THOUGHTS – NO RESTRICTION
I feel you need to get to a point where the desire to eat junk food does not exist in your mind.
Working in marketing, my job is to create great promotions and conference booths.
As such my office is filled with chocolate. I run events with catered food and wine but rarely partake, and mostly bring my own food. I feel great with the right fuel in my body.
It has taken me a while to reach this point. It took many years of practise, putting in the wrong fuel and observing how my body felt.
I am always learning, but one thing I know is there is no single diet to suit everyone.
Educate yourself by reading – but approach every theory with caution. And always look at an authors credentials.
Find what works for you. Travel your unique path to happiness and ask WHY are you eating the wrong foods for your body.
KNOW THAT STIMULANTS AND TOO MUCH CAFFEINE ARE DETRIMENTAL
With several meetings most days, the first coffee will be a almond milk cappuccino. Every meeting after that I will order peppermint tea or water.
The marketing of all these fat burners and stimulants is attractive- often using a beautiful girl in a bikini. No, you wont look like that if you take stimulants – you dont need them – never taken them!
BE THE BEST VERSION OF YOU – TRUST WHO YOU ARE AND VALUE YOUR STRENGTHS – LOVE YOURSELF
Being authentically you means you don’t have to try. You wake up every day and simply be you. Feel validated in your opinions and decisions. Be nice to yourself.
Take joy in others successes. Think positive thoughts and be confident in your own abilities. Self esteem and confidence are developed via life experiences and understanding that no one is perfect. Aim for acceptable each day and don’t criticise yourself.
Be your best and make your interactions with others meaningful.
TRAIN TO BALANCE STRENGTH, FLEXIBILITY AND ALIGNMENT AND TRAVEL THE JOURNEY TO GET TO KNOW YOUR BODY
Training to the point of exhaustion without balance is a fast road to trouble. Try to be aware of each muscle you are working during a workout. Be present, establish a mind muscle connection.
Breathe deeply during exercise and centre your body weight, find a tall posture. Injury is caused by your own bad technique or overuse of a muscle group or movement pattern. Change the way you train to find real results.
Observe how you feel after training and in the days after a training session. If your alignment feels out, get it checked by a chiro or physio. If you are really tight practise yoga or at a minimum stretch for 15 minutes after every session. Book in to a Pilates class to learn about torso and pelvic stability.
Once you identify how you make your musculoskeletal system move and function effectively, you will reap the benefits of exercise.
REST AND FUN GIVE FREEDOM OF MIND AND BODY
Unreasonable to do lists are no fun, try to be more effective with your time and simply live!
Enjoy your journey in life. The journey is just as important as the destination.
WITH AGE COMES WISDOM
As I get older, day after day, week after week, I only wish I could have known these words of wisdom as a younger person. But then I would have never travelled the hard path, through the difficult and challenging times. The hard things in life have made me stronger.
The bullying I experienced at school made my character authentic and made me embrace who I am. The struggle to achieve my best body, made me understand the struggles of those girls I train. The inequality of men and women in senior positions in the corporate world made me strive to be known for my intelligence first and my looks second. The experiences with relationships that were only based on fake behavious made me value my true girlfriends and their real personalities.
I love it that my friends, family and husband don’t care about my achievements they love me for the glam side just as much as the laid back girl in a track suits without make up.
I don’t have to keep up appearances I am authentically me, unique and true to what I believe in.
MY PASSION TO HELP OTHERS
At times I am too passionate, maybe a bit bossy, maybe a bit forward with my opinions but at the end of the day that’s because I care.
If something is not right I stand up for the person or the principle in the situation.
I wont let bad treatment of others be swept under the rug.
FINDING LOVE & FREINDSHIPS THAT ARE REAL
And most importantly I have a husband who does not care for appearances or publicity. He is a true down to earth, loving person. He is a man who looks after me, someone who cares for his family, friends and work colleagues. People are drawn to him, he is a unique man with an inner strength and compassion that is rare to find these days.
I find great happiness chatting with my closest girlfriend.
We chat about the latest fitness philosophies, wellness theories – we test them for ourselves. We don’t believe anything we hear until we have tried it!
And finally, I know no one is perfect and what matters is to travel life’s journey with a purpose and a kind heart. Whether it be a short of long term goal – waking up each day with the belief that you are here for a reason in life is a gift.
Keep questioning on your path.
Stay true to yourself and your personality, values and beliefs.
Stand up for those weaker than you – be their voice.
Love and light
